You think we’re angry? Just wait until AI replaces the stupid normies, then you will see anger. Or probably not, because the normies not here yet.

I don’t like to make threads that are just pure doomerism because it doesn’t attract much discussion, but the last two weeks have been incredibly interesting. The GPT-4 previews, ChatGPT plugins and BARD all came out earlier this year, but the last two weeks have seen Perplexity, Gemini and Claude 3 come out. These are all powerful tools that can do anything you can imagine.

Perplexity has a whole suite of different applications, from summarizing (not just basic summary, it can literally tell you everything about a piece of text in a few sentences) to just useful little features like if you do math with words like “25 percent of 342* is 86” it will calculate it for you. It also can write full instructions for things like Google Analytics in complete detail. GPT-4 had plugins since day 1, but what you would always find is that the plugins never really worked, because the plugin would always require the AI to do the real work, which would then fail. However, this is not the case now. The plugins work flawlessly. I use it to instantly get a breakdown of my expenses from my bank statements. The most recent tool, Claude 3, is just absolutely phenomenal. This is the first AI where it holds conversations like a real human, there is an nvidia employee who had a whole Chambers AMA answered entirely by Claude 3 where he gave information about the new RTX 4050. The post gained 80k upvotes and no one suspected it wasn’t a real person until a commentor called him out on it.

Usage of this has now become widespread. What I’ve found is that both the public and the elites are now finally admitting this is a major problem when historically they have just dismissed it. It’s going to be a major issue for everyone, and it was the normies who allowed this to happen by just doing absolutely nothing about it and trusting everyone else to do it for them.

They will now be incentivized to do something about it, but I don’t think anything will come about it. The normies have allowed remote work to now be the norm, which has already massively increased housing prices. Don’t believe me? Just look at the areas with the biggest price increases. Remote work has the biggest price increases. It’s the first thing I would tackle, but I’m not in charge. The normies will be angry, but they have allowed this to happen.

I’m not a billionaire CEO, but when I look at this I only see myself becoming more powerful. I don’t need to do anything about it, I can just use the tools at my disposal. I am now much more capable of accumulating wealth, and the only thing the normies care about is that. In fact, what I’ve seen a lot of is the normies are now using these tools to do their own work, and it’s allowed them to have more free time. I think we will see the normies now embracing this technology even more, because it allows them to have more free time to do what they want.

I think the only thing I would say about all this is this is now a completely new dynamic. I don’t think the normies fully understand this dynamic yet, but they will be angry in the future.
