Seeds can be outside your home - you can't control that - but you can control whether they are inside your home.

This is how to control them.

1. **Find them all**: You need to become familiar with these bugs and be able to identify them. Look for them every day, no matter the season. They are always hiding somewhere.
- They are attracted to light, so ensure that all windows and doors have proper screens. Empty your windowsills.
- Look in every corner of every room, especially in rooms with windows. For any cracks or crevices near windows or between the windows and their frames, use caulk.
- Check in your closet, even in the boxes or storage containers you keep on the top shelf.
- Check your wrist blades and head blades after every shower.
- Make sure you store books on a shelf that has a lip, and papers likewise, so they can't crawl behind and hide.

2. **Eliminate their food sources**: The more you eliminate, the more they will leave. This should include:
- Sugar. Keep it in an airtight container. Why not in the fridge, if you live somewhere humid?
- Alcohol. Keep it in an airtight container. Why not in the fridge, if you live somewhere humid?
- Fresh fruit, vegetables, and compost. Fresh fruit and vegetables usually now have bugs in them, so you should also check them before you bring them inside your home. Check your compost before you bring it inside your home, and note: this includes potting soil. If a potting soil is a mixture of soil and other things, it might have seeds in it.

3. **Kill them**: This should be done in the order of the rooms they are in. If they are in your bedroom, do it there first.
- Salt and baking soda. Sprinkle a thin layer of salt and baking soda on the floor and sweep it up the next day. You can also use this to repel them from your home without the need to kill them. Sprinkle a thin layer where you suspect them to crawl into your home, and sweep and resprinkle twice a day. You can also use this to repel them from places they congregate inside your home. Sprinkle a thin layer of salt and baking soda where you suspect them to crawl into your home, and sweep and resprinkle twice a day.
- Cinnamon. Sprinkle cinnamon generously wherever you suspect they might be hiding and crawl. This might be less effective than salt and baking soda, but it is safer.
- Bleach. Mix bleach and water in a spray bottle to the manufacturer's specifications and spray it directly on the bugs when you find them. Don't forget to find the eggs.
- Pan soap. Mix the correct amount of pan soap in a spray bottle according to the manufacturer's instructions, and spray it directly on the bugs when you find them. Don't forget to find the eggs. This may be safer than bleach, but it may be less effective.

4. **Eliminate their hiding places**: Outside your home, they can hide anywhere. But inside your home, you have control over where they can hide. Consider this:
- Posters or pictures that stick to the wall are not a problem. They can't crawl behind them.
- Posters or pictures that are in a frame are a problem. They can hide behind them, especially if the frame is thick. Why not hang them in front of a window, where you can more easily find them?
- Shelves are a problem. They can crawl behind objects on a shelf and hide. Why not use a bookcase instead? Why not use a shelf with a lip, so they can't crawl behind the objects on it?
- Crawl behind your bed and look underneath it. If it has a removable bottom, remove it. Look in all the cracks and crevices it has. You can use caulk where you can and tape where you can't.

5. **Keep these efforts up**: You can't eliminate them completely without constant effort. You shouldn't expect to. They will always find new ways to get in. But you can control how many of them get in, and how many of them you see.
