It's OK to let your kids fail!

I am a high school teacher of over 10 years and I have seen parents rescue their kids from failure so many damn times that it makes me want to scream. I Literally had a parent tell me "Oh he's not a good test taker" as if that means I should give him a free pass into the next grade without having to do any work.

Let your damn kids fail and use it as a lesson! I tell my students over and over and over again that failure is not the end of the world and that if anything it should be used as a lesson on what not to do in the future.

What are your stories about parents not letting their kids fail?

EDIT: I want to say that there are exceptions to the rule. I am not saying that EVERY parent lets their kids fail, but the majority of parents that I have dealt with in my 10 years of teaching do let their kids fail.
