I ran from Barnes & Nobles

yesterday I was at Barnes & Nobles with my girlfriend. It was a chilly night, and I had no jacket so I wore my hoodie. I found a couple of books on Film Noir that I really enjoyed, and decided to steal them both. They were both very thin so I could easily fit them under my jacket. So, I hide them under my jacket, and head to the exit door. I was about 5 feet away from the exit when I heard a voice say "Oh no Ive got one" The next thing I know, is a security guard is standing right behind me. I looked at my girlfriend, and I said "run" so I opened the door, and sprinted out the door. We were both running, with the security guard right behind us. We were both so scared, we were counting on each other to get away. We literally ran all the way across the parking lot, into the highway, and didn't stop until we got back to my girlfriend's car. We were both out of breath, laughing, and relieved. I've never ran from security before, and I don't think I will do it again. I was lucky enough to get away, but it was a dumb move.<br><br>Edit- Since people are asking through pm. The books I stole were inexpensive. I think one was 10$, and the other was 15$.
