I'm working on a paper that tries to defend free will against the threat from materialism. I've been reading many old papers on the topic and have realized that philosophers have been talking about this for ages.

I'm looking for what ordinary people would think is free will. I've realized that it is not what I thought it is and I would like to know what others think about the subject.

Should we abandon the concept?
