The United States is a **dystopian hellscape.** I know that's not a unique opinion, but hear me out. I'm a 30 year old man from a Western European nation. I'm visiting the United States right now and I have been for the past week. I **thought I would be prepared for this** because I followed American news from afar, so I thought I knew what to expect. But it's worse than I thought, and I think Americans themselves don't realize how bad it is because they have never known any different. The United States is a **dystopian hellscape.**

Everything is centered on profit and nothing else. Every advertisement you see is for some hospital. Every advertisement you hear is for some lawyer. It's fucking insane. I am from a nation where most healthcare is free and nurses make double what our American counterparts make. How does the US justify this shit? How does it justify that its citizens die like dogs because they can't afford treatment for basic ailments? Its utterly baffling.

There is a soda machine in front of the operating room at the hospital I'm at and they **sell soda there.** Like wtf kind of dystopian bullshit is that?

I went for a walk this morning and saw two homeless people. Two. In 15 minutes. Like wtf? How does the US justify this shit? In my nation we give them free food, shelter, a job, and healthcare, *and a fucking stipend.* Yes we pay homeless people fucking money. And they still don't want to be homeless because it's so bad. How does the US justify this shit? How does it let people starve and freeze in the street? The US is the most powerful nation on Earth, it should be one of the best places to live in. Yet it lets its own people starve in the fucking streets.

Every town I've passed through is filled with chain stores. A corner store, a gas station, a Subway or two, a Wal Mart. Every single town is the same. If you didn't tell me I would think it was the same fucking town. Its utterly baffling. Why on Earth would they let that happen? We don't allow corporate chain stores to just completely dominate the market. We don't let them just buy out family-owned businesses. How does the US not have regulation against that? It's fucking insane. The food here is fucking terrifying too. I got Subway because there is no other fucking option. How does the US let the food here be so terrible? Yes I know fast food is not good, but American food is on another level. We literally have fucking laws that require food to be a certain level of quality. The US seems to allow anything. I think part of the reason Americans die so young is because the food here is just fucking terrifying. How does the US let this happen? Do they not care about the health of their citizens? How on Earth can you call this the land of freedom when you aren't even free to eat healthy food?

I've just come from a small town and it was like something out of a fucking horror movie. It was 1 pm on a Tuesday and every single person I saw was drunk. Every. Single. Person. I saw. I was not kidding when I said I saw Chrono Trigger levels of alcoholism. Its insane. How on Earth does the US let that happen? We fucking tax liquor to the gods to keep it out of peoples hands. We require a fucking card proving that you are 18 to buy liquor, and we ID every single time. The US does not. How on Earth does it not? It's fucking insane. Do you not care about the health of your citizens? Do you not care that your citizens are fucking themselves to death with chronic alcoholism? The US fucking lets its own citizens *starve to death* and *freeze to death* and it still hasn't figured out how to stop its citizens from drinking themselves to death? How on Earth is this the case?

I've never seen so many fat people in my life. Everywhere. Every single town I've been in its just like Chrono Trigger levels of obesity. How on earth does the US let its own citizens fucking starve themselves to death? The US literally lets its own citizens fucking starve themselves to death with chronic fucking obesity. How on Earth does it let that happen? How does it justify that? We have laws that require food to be a certain quality, we require fast food to be a certain level of quality, we tax junk food to the gods so that people don't eat it, and fucking subsidize fresh produce so that everyone can eat it. The US does none of that. How on earth does it justify that? How does it let its own citizens fucking kill themselves like that?

The roads here are in fucking disrepair. We get ten times the rainfall as the US does and our roads are a thousand times better. We have seven fucking just highways around the city, and they're always clean and in great condition. The US lets roads get in fucking disrepair and then charges its citizens fucking tolls to drive on them. The US is a car-centric nation, why on Earth does it not have good roads? How on Earth does it not have good fucking roads?

Every single place I've been in has been like this. Every single fucking town is like this. Every fucking city is like this. The US lets its own fucking citizens starve to death and freeze to death in the street. The US lets them kill themselves with booze and fast food. The US lets its own fucking citizens die like fucking dogs, doing fucking dogshit labor or fucking dogshit office work, living dogshit lives, eating dogshit food. If the United States is supposed to be the greatest country on Earth, then the Earth can fucking burn.

Some will say this is the cities, some will say this is just Texas, but I've been to fucking New York, I've been to fucking Miami. They're not better. I've been to fucking Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, every single fucking city in Texas. They're all the same. This isn't just Texas, this isn't just the cities. This is the United States, and its fucking terrifying.

I **never ever ever ever want to come back to this fucking dystopian shithole ever again.** I would rather die than live here. I would rather kill myself than live here. This is the fucking dystopian future, and its fucking terrifying. Every single fucking American should pack their bags and fucking leave because this nation fucking sucks. I would rather live in fucking Suwannee than live in this fucking dystopian hellscape. I would rather live in fucking Bangladesh than live in this fucking dystopian hellscape. **Fuck the United States. Fuck every single fucking thing about it.**

This has been my experience with the United States.

Edit: I just logged back on and oh my shit. I didn't expect this to blow up so much. I'm going to reply to a couple questions I've seen.

First: Where am I from? I'm from a nation in Western Europe. I'm not saying more than that. I don't want someone to read my post and think "oh well he's from \[nation\], ofc he would think that." I want Americans to read it and see it as an average and unbiased viewpoint from someone who has no stake in this, so they can see it how it really is.

Second: What city am I in? I'm in Austin. Its one of the biggest cities in Texas and it's growing extremely fast. So basically, if you think it's like this just because Austin isn't really Texas, or because it's Texas, or because I'm in a small town, well I'm not. A lot of people have seen my post somehow and are coming up with excuses for why it's like this. I think we all know at this point that this is the case for almost every single fucking town in this fucking shithole.

Thanks for all my awards so far guys. I appreciate it.

Edit: For those of you who are doubting my claim about food quality, we have a law that requires food to have a certain minimum level of quality, so that it's safe to eat and won't kill you. My nation's minimum level of quality is higher than the US's maximum level of quality. A McDonald's burger in the US will not meet the minimum standard for a McDonald's burger in my nation. Its not just that we have better food, its not just that we have more fresh food, its not just that we have more xxx, its that even the US's idea of "good" food is fucking terrifying to us.

Edit: To the people saying "well it's Texas": A **lot** of people have just messaged me from Texas and said that this is accurate. A **lot** of Texans. I think its accurate to say Texas is not a fucking outlier here.
