Well, a few months ago there was almost universal sentiment (except maybe professional gamblers) that professional sports shouldn't return until a COVID vaccine was widely available and it was deemed safe to do so. However, that sentiment has largely changed today and now it's mostly about the money. However, this change is not something that occurred organically. This change happened because of the money invested by professional sports leagues to change our sentiment about professional sports returning during the pandemic.

Now, I'm not sure why even people who would rather support local communities (and small businesses) over big corporations would suggest professional sports leagues should return now as we are in the middle of a pandemic. Perhaps it's because they are missing it. However, missing it is not a good enough reason to be saying that professional sports leagues should return, when people are dying and other businesses are closed.

Therefore, it's just a clear example of how capitalism is influencing public opinions, to the detriment of society today.

Edit: I didn't expect this thread to go viral. However, I will try my best to get back to everybody.
