Does anyone believe that AI could benefit humanity?

I recently posted an anti AI post, and I felt that it was important to follow it up with something more optimistic. I am open to the idea that I could end up being wrong about this technology. I am unfamiliar with the kind of passion that many people have for AI. And I understand that not everyone shares my views. I, and many others, believe that AI can't be allowed to take over our world. I am interested in hearing the opinions of people who have their own positive views and experiences with this technology. I am not looking for any kind of argument. I'm just trying to understand peoples perspective.
