#edit: it's not the same as saying "I don't like anime anymore" just saying I wish there was more variety. I did however say I hate isekai and I take that back now, it's just waaay too oversaturated for me to enjoy it.

#edit2: I don't have a problem with traps, I love the design of them and I wish they appeared more often in other animes.

I used to love anime. I grew up watching it, dug deep into it my whole life. But recently I've felt like it just doesn't interest me anymore. I feel like everything is starting to be the same. And every time I think an anime looks good, it turns out to be another isekai with a near identical plot to every other isekai. I hate how over sexualized the female characters are, I hate how each isekai male protagonist seems to have an obsession with age (e.g. saying things like "because she's 300 years old but looks 26!"). I hate how they're always the queer character in the story, with their male and female classmates from back on earth having no idea how gay they are. I hate how they always seem to fall in love with someone who literally looks like a 14 year old girl. I hate that they're always told how "real men"/"alphas" act back on earth but then proceed to not act like that at all. And I hate how they always seem to have an obnoxious ego, always say how they're doing it for the good of the people, but then end up being the cause of all the worlds problems. I hate the constant "we did it!" Moments when they've barely accomplished anything. And I hate how they always seem to think they're doing something revolutionary but really their just doing the bare minimum of what seems like a good idea. I hate how they always seem to have some random skill that only really started becoming relevant in the 20th century e.g. oil drilling, gun making, farming, rather than a skill like blacksmithing, pottery, tailoring/clothing, which is much more relevant to the time period portrayed in the story which always seems to be in the time period of medieval Europe but with magic, monsters and dragons. I hate how they're always just copying old skills or techniques and acting like they're doing something new. I hate how they always seem to be the ones who do everything but then never actually do anything at all. I hate how they always have such a lack of common sense when it comes to money. I hate how they always seem to get everything they ever ask for with minimal effort (and I do know that this is true for a small minority of people in real life but in the grand scheme of things its hard to find people who have never struggled financially at least once) and when they don't get everything they ask for they're shocked that they aren't getting special treatment. I hate how they always get mad at people for stealing from them but then steal everything they can get their hands on (usually something the community is reliant on to make a living) because they claim to be doing it for the benefit of the community but in reality it's because they don't care about the people who are dependent on what ever it is they're "rescuing". I hate how they always have such a "fuck you got mine" mentality, where they'll go out of their way to make sure they have a steady income and are financially stable, but then ignore the people around them who are struggling because they feel entitled to their wealth because they "worked so hard to get to where I am now!" But in reality they didn't do anything by themselves and everything they have was given to them or gotten through a huge amount of luck. I hate how they always seem to rely on plot armor. Especially when they're the protagonist. I hate how they always seem to say "If only I had gotten here sooner, maybe they wouldn't have died" even though they did technically get there on time. I hate how they always seem to get these huge plot revealing flashbacks towards the end of the story which always seem to be about a past love they had who died. I hate how they always seem to rely on some random item they found or obtained earlier in the story but thought nothing of it at the time. I hate how they always seem to be upset about the fact that they're from a different world, but then 5 min later it's all okay. I hate how they always seem to forget about the family and friends they left behind when they got teleported to another world. I hate how they always seem to go from "Oh wow this world is great! Everything about it seems so amazing!" To "This world sucks and I should just change everything about it!" I hate how they always seem to think they have the right to change everything about their new world just because they're from a different world, when in reality they know absolutely nothing about the world, its people or its culture so they should just accept their circumstances instead of trying to "fix it". I hate how they always seem to ask questions just for the sake of the audience to get more information on the story or lore. I hate how they always seem to be upset that they're a by standard, but then become over powered when it's convenient for the plot. I hate how they always seem to go through a 180 personality change just to fit the plot of the next arc. I hate how they always seem to change completely towards the end of the story and suddenly stop being the person they were the whole story. And I hate how they always seem to become "selfless" and suddenly stop caring about anything they've ever wanted and just say "I'm doing this for the good of the people". I hate how they always seem to have such a lack of regard for people's personal space and privacy. I hate how they always seem to be so dense and completely oblivious to everything. I hate how they always seem to have such a lack of regard for how much money they're spending. I hate how they always seem to ask for help when its convenient for the plot, but when it's not convenient they're always like "No I got this on my own! I don't need to ask for any ones help!"

This is getting very petty but I also hate how they're always "I'm not your friend, I've never called you my friend and we've never been friends, but I've always thought of you as a friend for some reason!" I hate how they always seem to be jealous of people who talk to their "true love" but then always deny they're jealous and say "We're just friends!" I hate how they always seem to say things like "I've always been this way, even when I was back on earth!" But then do the complete opposite of what they say literally a minute later! I hate how they always seem to be so overly dramatic about things that really aren't that big of a deal. I hate how they always seem to make a big deal about something which turns out to be not that big of a deal but rather something completely different. I hate how they always seem to go and do something like changing their whole curriculum or design of a school just because they asked for it. I hate how they always seem to have such low standards for themselves. I hate how they always seem to be okay with not having any personal growth throughout the whole story. I hate how they always seem to think that they're not good at anything when in reality they've been handed everything they've ever wanted in life on a silver platter. I hate how they always seem to doubt themselves even though they've never really had a problem with confidence before. I hate how they always seem to go on these huge rants about how they're just a worthless piece of shit when in reality they've barely struggled with anything throughout their whole life. And I hate how they always seem to be okay with not having any personal growth!

#edit: sorry for the rant lol.

There are just so many overused tropes in isekai, and as someone who's watched anime for most of my life I've just gotten so tired of it. I've lost interest in anime completely because I feel like that's all they've been making recently. I'll go through an entire anime list and 50% of them will just be isekai with the same old plot. And if it isn't an isekai with the same old plot then it's either an isekai with the same old plot just with slight changes or it's a completely different genre like moe or slice of life with the same old overused isekai tropes applied to them. I don't even like watching anime anymore because I've just gotten so disappointed with the anime being produced lately.
