It's not unpopular opinion that teachers are underpaid, but why can't we pay them more?<br><br>It's not unpopular opinion that good teachers are good for society and bad teachers are bad for society. <br><br>Why can't we pay them more?<br><br>Is it the lack of money? There's no money for teachers but there's money for bombs and schools?<br><br>Is it a lack of qualified teachers? If we paid teachers more, wouldn't it attract more experienced and qualified teachers into the profession?<br><br>I understand that teachers have the summer off but I'm not in much of a position to talk, I'm a student. For the 8 whole months of the year that they are working, it's not like they just sit around and watch the students do their own thing all day.<br><br>Teachers put in countless hours of work outside the classroom. The lack of money they receive combined with their excessive amount of work puts them in kind of a tight spot.<br><br>There are a few driving factors that prevent teachers from being paid more. Most of the time it is lack of money, lack of qualified teachers, or both. <br><br>But why do we never discuss the fact that teachers are underpaid? When it does come up, it's just people agreeing that teachers are underpaid and that's it. <br><br>Why don't we pay teachers more? What is holding us back?
