Do you think anime is in a good place currently?

I feel like it's been on a decline in terms of quality, especially on the TV side of things. It feels like most TV anime are based on pre-existing source material, adapted by lazy studios that don't give a crap about the story or characters. I don't see much passion in a lot of these projects, and it's definitely noticeable in the final product.

Just look at anime like Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, or Jujutsu Kaisen. While they are all very popular and well made, they feel more like a product designed to sell, rather than something made with passion and love. You don't see anime like Akira, Nausicaa, or Paprika (which was based on a manga) anymore, which were all passion projects made with a lot of love, and care. Most TV anime feels like it's made by soulless people that are there to do a job and collect a paycheck, rather than people that are actually passionate about the story and characters that they are working with.

I think this is part of the reason why most anime made today are completely forgotten after a year. I think a lot of modern anime lacks the timeless quality that a lot of older anime had. I don't think a lot of people are going to remember Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, or Jujutsu Kaisen in 10 years when all the hype dies down. They'll be relics of the past that people remember as being popular, but not really being passionate projects made with love.

I think anime is currently in a low point creatively, in the same way that I believe the film industry was in a low point in the 90s, but in a much different way IMO.
