Meta, Microsoft, and others quit AI group over Google dominance

The Partnership for AI, an industry group founded in 2016, will dissolve in April after running for nearly eight years. Founding members who are leaving the coalition include Google, Microsoft, Meta and Amazon. It is understood that Google's parent company, Alphabet, has become increasingly influential in the group as generative AI gains popularity.<br><br>The group, founded by Google, Amazon, Facebook, IBM and Microsoft, aimed to create the field of public policy and AI – and to change public understanding of AI. It is understood that the group’s board and executive director will join Alphabet’s think tank.<br><br>“All of the board members, including the CEO, are going to the new think tank.
