Why do people do day trading and other shitty gambling?

I am so confused. I know people who make over $100k a year and will dump tens of thousands into some stupid trading shit, or other forms of gambling. I dont get it. I wouldnt do it even if I was making twice that. I am over here fighting the smashing urge to day trade guns, or buy more crypto, or day trading, or play lottery, or other stupid gambling shit. I dont have much spare money and my money is better off in high yield savings account.<br><br>But why do people dump tens of thousands into this shit? I would rather buy a high end car, do day trading with guns, or even buy 2 million dollars worth of crypto currency. As long as i can see the shit i dumped all the money in, i would be happy.
