I went to the end of the line, further than I ever should have

One time, I was at a local Target. This was back in 2011, so I was 15.

I was with my best friend, and we were bored during the summer, so we were just wandering around Target and acting like idiots. We decided it'd be funny to walk to the very front of the store, to the far left end of the front doors, and then act like we were walking into the doors. Like, stand there and go, "OH!" because of the imaginary glass we'd just walked into. Like we'd walked into the doors.

We did this a few times, and some people laughed. Most people didn't, and I'm sure some thought I was insane, but I didn't care. I was bored.

After a while of doing this, I decided to play with the automatic sliding glass doors. I put my fingers out, and stood just out of range of the sensor, and I walked up to the sensor and then backed away. The doors would open and close. I did this a few times, and then I backed away from the sensor and went back toward it.

But the doors didn't open.

I reached out and waved my hand in front of the sensor, but nothing. I pushed on the doors, expecting them to open, but they didn't. So I pulled them open and walked outside.

I walked outside, and I immediately realized I'd just walked out of a Target without its permission, essentially. I mean, the doors were supposed to open for me, but they didn't. So I walked back inside and went to the information desk and told them what had happened.

"Excuse me, I just walked out of your store, but the doors wouldn't open for me, and I didn't want to get in trouble, so I came back in."

The lady looked at me like I was insane.

"Why did you even tell me that? Go wander around the store now."

That was a pretty weird experience.
