Everyone dies at the end of the year

The first recorded death was in the year 62 BC.

Every year, as the clock ticks closer to midnight, people start to die.

Young and old, rich and poor - it makes no difference. It is an unchangeable, unchallengeable fate that every person will die at the end of the year.

Let's say you were born January 1, 2000. On December 31, you die. If someone was born on December 31, 1999 they would die just hours after being born. That's just the way it is.

We all know this. We've always known this.

How does humanity react to dying every year, to having a definitive expiry date?

EDIT: I would like to make it clear that 'everyone dies at the end of the year' is the most literal possible interpretation, and that is the interpretation I intended. My apologies for any confusion.
