I see people selling books, writes articles all the time with the headlines of "AGI" - even one with a deadline of "2029" as the "Doomsday".

Can't help but wonder, when will all this stop, and we'll see some real progress in the field of AI?

I did a poll in r/ChatGPT and it seems majority of the people think AGI would be ready before 2050. The same chamber has 90%+ saying they dislike "anthropomorphism" in AI. (The mess with what is called "Pro" in ChatGPT Pro)

The conversations regarding Singularity going on in this sub, tend to be more focused on the long-term.

The one going on in r/AGI is a joke. I think that chamber is a scam.
