Google to shut down Stadia in September, refund game purchases

Google has announced it will shut down Stadia, its cloud-based video game service, in mid-September, citing lackluster demand as the reason.<br><br>The search giant said on Thursday that Stadia will shut down on September 18, and Stadia Pro subscriptions will end on September 18, 2023, according to a blog post. The company also said that Stadia will no longer be available on smart TVs and streaming devices such as Google TV, Android TV and Chromecast.<br><br>Google said it will refund all game and content purchases, but not Stadia Pro subscriptions, with the expectation of completing refunds by mid-January 2024. Stadia Store purchases and subscription conversions made through September 29 will be eligible for a refund. Google advises against making purchases in the Stadia Store during this time.
