CMV: You can't both want to be treated like an adult and feel entitled to a participation trophy

Trophiae should be awarded for outstanding achievement and not just for showing up. If you want to be treated like an adult, you have accept that sometimes that does, and sometimes should, include disappointment. I'm seeing a plethora of stories in the media from people who feel as if they are entitled to a trophy for getting the lowest passing grade possible in school or for showing up to a little league sports game.<br><br>Edit: Well that was fun! Thanks for everyone who jumped in and tried to change my view. Big props to those of you who gave me awards. I appreciate it. I have to say that I didn't really see anyone present a compelling argument and I still feel that trophies should be for significant achievement and not just for showing up. Of course, I still believe that everyone should be treated with dignity and respect, so maybe that's the thing that I need to change my mind on; that maybe I don't feel that everyone should be treated with dignity and respect.
