As a person who identifies as Jewish, I loathe Israel

Okay here we go. I'm a Jew. I am a released veteran of the US army, I actually had to do border control for over a year. I've been born in California but moved around the US a ton when I was young. I have Jewish and Irish heritage. I am not religious at all, I got released from the army with an honorable discharge. The reason I'm posting this is that I have a whole different take on the conflict from what I actually learned from family about it. Originally I was very pro-Israel, then I got out of the army. I saw lots of things I cannot tell you about (because they are considered classified and I'd end up in prison if I did) and I saw some of the aid from the US that went to Israel. I saw how the government treated anyone who was Palestinian. After getting out of the army and doing some research of my own I realize this conflict is nowhere near a religious 2 sided war. Israel is a vicious oppressor who does not allow any Palestinians safe passage and then cries "oh we're being held hostage". It's all crap. Most of the problems are because of Israel and Palestine is just being painted as the bad guy. I live in a predominantly Jewish area with many Israeli people who moved here. They are very nice, but soon I realized that this was not the same as in Israel. Israel has rules against allowing any Palestinian into their territory unless they have a special "work" visa and they have to be gone by nightfall. I don't see that here. It actually disgusts me to see this. I've spoken to people who live in Palestine and seen the conditions they live in. Israel is the oppressor and the government does whatever it wants because the US funds them. <br><br>Sorry, but this whole conflict is bullshit and Israel is the oppressor.
