The only thing we hate more than the Palestinians is the fact the Palestinians are no longer the only enemies of Israel. (Trigger warning)

In recent years we in Israel have suffered an explosion of hate and violence. This is not new. In the past we faced the hatred of the Nazis who sought to wipe us out with extermination camps. We faced the hatred of the Arabs who sought to push us into the sea. But recently it’s been internal. The leftists and the rightists no longer talk to each other. We have gained an enemy that we didn’t expect - our own brothers.<br><br>Israel is no longer united, we have been split into two. The rightists and the leftists. It is now more common for families to split up over politics than anything else. The rightists see the leftists as traitors, the leftists see the rightists as tyrants. We have gained an enemy that we cannot defeat. We can’t defeat this enemy because it’s our own people, and in Israel we are not allowed to lose a war. The enemy is no longer hamas, the enemy is now our own government. We have gained an enemy that we can’t defeat.<br><br>The rightists believe that Israel should be run by religious law. They believe that the Palestinians should be expelled from Israel. They believe in a religious Jewish state. The leftists believe in democracy. They believe that Israel should be a country for all its citizens. They believe that the Palestinians should be treated like us. We can’t have both, and because of this we have gained an enemy. The leftists are now traitors, the rightists are now tyrants. This is what Israel has become. The leftists say that Israel is now a dictatorship. The rightists say that Israel is finally Jewish. It doesn’t matter what they say, both agree on one thing - Israel is barely holding on.<br><br>Israel is a country that has been to war every decade, Israel is a country that is constantly fighting to survive. Israel is a country that has been granted very little. We can’t afford to lose a war, we can’t afford to lose a battle. We can’t afford to lose. But we have lost. We have gained an enemy that we can’t defeat. We have gained an enemy that we can’t kill. We have gained an enemy that we can’t expel. The enemy is all of us. We are all the enemy now.<br><br>Israel is no longer a country. Israel is now a battlefield. Israel is barely holding on. Israel is no longer something we are proud of. Israel is no longer something we love. Israel is an enemy we can’t defeat.
