The Glock 48 is just a very nice pistol for everyone. It shoots 9mm, which is a cheap and widely available round. It is chambered in a powerful enough caliber to be able to be reliably used at virtually any distance where one could reasonably expect to engage another person. It is a good size for smaller hands, even children, while being a large enough pistol for larger hands to be able to get a full grip. It is also an excellent choice for 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants, who may not have grown up in a family where they were familiar with firearms. Glock, being one of the most popular brands in the world, has a large catalog of accessories available, including a dizzying array of holsters and sights. However, the best feature of the Glock 48 is that it has been found to be one of the most reliable, if not the most reliable, pistol to be produced, with many testing in the 10,000 round range with no stoppages. For a nation like the United States, where a police force is needed to be adequately armed to respond to threats as they come up, and where the nation is large enough that it may be difficult to get maintenance and repair out to certain areas in a timely manner, the G48 is hands down the best choice. Additionally, for the nation at large, we are coming out of a time when many guns and ammunition have been hoarded to the point where it is difficult to get your hands on one without a massive amount of luck and/or money, so this puts the G48 a step ahead of many other pistols in terms of availability.
