CMV: Currently, the US would be better off with the Democrats running the country.

I've seen a few CMV posts in the following format, so I'm going to go ahead and claim the topic I feel most passionately that is least claimed. If you don't agree, tell me why. I'm listening for real.<br><br>Here is my argument: A Democratic controlled government, currently, is better than a Republican controlled government. In other words, I think that as things stand right now, the country would be better off with only Democrats in office. My reasons are as follows:<br><br>1. Healthcare - There are now multiple credible reports of Trump gutting the Healthcare system. With a Democratic controlled government, this would not be allowed to happen. Someone is going to end up with a much shittier deal, and it will not be the Democrats.<br><br>2. Climate change - The Democrats are more active on this issue. Any movement is positive, and I would rather a Democratic government with some movement than a Republican government with none.<br><br>3. Gun control - This is probably the most contentious issue on the list. I refuse to continue living in a society where guns are an accepted part of everyday life. I refuse to live my life in fear of guns. Democrats tend to have stricter gun control laws. In my opinion, stricter gun control laws are another step towards a better society.<br><br>4. Court appointees - I'm sorry, but how anyone can see Kavanaugh as an unbiased appointee is beyond me. The process of appointing a Supreme Court judge should never be politicized, and the Republicans continue to politicize this process. I feel that Democrats would be much more fair and unbiased.<br><br>5. Collusion - This is probably the most contentious issue on this list. I believe it is now an established fact that Trump would have, and probably did, collude with the Russians. If this is the case, than the Republicans can no longer claim that Trump is fit to lead.<br><br>6. Economics - The Democrats are more active in trying to raise the minimum wage. I'm sorry, but in the richest country in the history of the world, there is no need for poverty. I believe that a Democratic government would take real steps towards ending poverty in this country.<br><br>7. Russia - this is a simple point, but the Democrats are not currently being investigated for colluding with Russia. In case it needs to be said, colluding with a foreign power for political gain is treason. <br><br>8. Science - The Democrats are more active on the topic of space exploration, and in my opinion space is the future. Any movement is positive, and I would rather a Democratic government with some movement than a Republican government with none.<br><br>9. Immigration - I refuse to live in a society where I tell human beings that they cannot come in because of where they were born. I refuse to live in a society where we continue to turn away immigrants. I refuse to live in a society that locks up children. I refuse to live in a society where freedom is only for the privileged.<br><br>Furthermore, I refuse to continue living in a society that is so polarized, but I feel that the Democrats have extended the olive branch to the Republicans at every turn, and have been endlessly rejected. The Republicans have interfered in Democratic processes, and have attacked the fundamentals of democracy within this country. They claim that Democrats are trying to undermine democracy, when really it is the Republicans that do not respect the outcome of Democratic processes. The Democrats are not perfect, but I believe that a Democratic controlled government is currently the best option.
