Hotels frustrate the hell out of me

I get traveller’s fatigue like everyone, but hotels have so many little things wrong with them. If I am paying over 100 dollars a night I feel like they could do better.

I just got back from the holiday inn at O’Hare airport.

They say that check in is at 3. I got there at 3:05 and was told my room wasn’t ready. I asked for the next available room and they said 4.

I don’t want to sound like a bum, but I just got off a plane. I haven’t showered since 6am. I don’t feel like hanging out for an hour.

Next I go to the bar for a drink and I’m told that their system is down. So they are writing down the orders. The bartender has served four people since I’ve been there for the last 30 minutes.

Then I went to the restaurant on the second time and was told that they had a wedding that they will take care of first. I told the hostess that I had been sitting at the bar for the last 30 minutes and she said “yeah, they have a wedding”.

I went back to the bar and was served a nice meal by a very nice bartender. She had to take a short break because a manager was chewing her out. Probably because of my interaction with the hostess in the restaurant.

I feel bad for the bartender, and I feel bad for the server in the restaurant. But this is the problem.

Now I’m in my room and the shower head is so crappy that there is more water coming out the sides than the front. Just frustrates me.
