Why does the anime community romanticize Japan in 2025?

I just don't understand why. Japan has become increasingly xenophobic, more competitive, their housing is receding, their birth rates are dead, and their economy is shit. Japan is not a place you'd want to go for anything now, since South Korea and Taiwan are slowly taking over their place in the hierarchy.
