The Glock 19 is not the sweet spot

The Glock 19 is a great pistol, I guess. It's ok. It's definitely the most popular pistol ever, but I still just don't get the hype. In my opinion, it is essentially the Toyota Camry of pistols. You see a million of them on the road, it's an attractive (TO ME), it's strong, it's reliable, it's affordable, and most importantly it's practical. It's one of the most practical pistols ever made, but I just don't think it's the best.

I'm not sure what the sweet spot is for everyone, but for me it always felt like a 9mm pistol should be somewhere between 15 and 17 rounds. The G19 has 15, which is great and that's what I wanted. I've owned several glocks, and I've always ended up selling them. I don't live in a state where capacity is a concern and I've always found that I prefer bigger pistols. I own a USP 40 Full Size, which is a fucking BEAST. It's the most comfortable gun I have ever owned. It's a joy to shoot, it's just fun. It's the perfect size for me.

I ended up getting a Glock 17, after selling my other glocks. A stock 17 with no upgrades, just a banger. It's still not as comfortable as my 40, but it still feels like a home. So I decided to do some testing with my clan of training partners. We all hate 9mm but it's cheap and we have a bunch of it. So we test a bunch of 15-18 round pistols to see what we all like. We all agreed that the Glock 17 and Glock 34 both out performed us as a group when we test our accuracy. We felt like it was because of the bigger size and the extra mass.

So I decided to test out some more big 9mms. I went out and bought a Canik, and it's the most fun gun I own. It's a big gun, full size. It's comfortable. It's reliable. It's affordable. It is a fantastic pistol, and it's the only gun that I own that holds 18. My point in all of this is that the sweet spot has to be bigger. It just has to be. Every full size pistol I have is more fun, more comfortable, more reliable, and easier to use than my sub compact ever was.
