Let me preface this by saying that I am pro-choice, I think it is every woman’s right to control her own body. However, I am certain that the vast majority of conservatives, while perhaps opposed to abortion in all circumstances, would not want to see women subjugated nor do they think the government should force women to carry and birth unwanted children or be denied access to birth control.

It’s been a couple of weeks since the Roe decision was overturned and the vast majority of conservatives haven’t celebrated the decision, subjugated women, or turned into handmaid’s tale style misogynists. In fact, most conservatives think that the decision should be left up to the states, as it was, and that women’s rights should still be protected. The vast majority of conservatives also think that abortions should be allowed if the mother was raped or if the child was the result of incest.

If conservatives were truly trying to subjugate women, and that was the motive behind the overturn of Roe, then the decision of the SC would be nationwide, and birth control, ect, would have been banned as well. Let’s not forget that conservatives also care about the rights of the unborn. They want fair treatment for everyone, including the fetus. That is why most conservatives have advocated (before and after the decision) for free birth control and education about sex as well as the expansion of resources to help single mothers and support low-income families.

I understand that there are extremes on both sides of the aisle. However, it seems that too many people are attacking conservatives and painting them with the same brush without considering that they too want fair treatment and equal rights for everybody.

Edit: Reformatted the post and removed the political labels as they were deemed too politically charged.
