i just logged in to bump a thread and was greeted with the "your account has been inactive for N years" message. i'm the original founder of this sub. i come here now and then to see if any new people have joined. i never got around to posting any pictures of my recent `r/westernconiferseedbug` tattoos...<br><br>anyway, i've been working on a little side project in my (copious) free time.<br><br>i'm writing a parser and library in the C programming language. the code has been pretty much out of development since the mid 2000's, but its still an excellent language in which to write software.<br><br>i think that the time might now be right to write a new, regex-based parser library from scratch, so i'm working on it.<br><br>this isn't the only thing that i've made in C; some of my other projects are:<br><br>* a complete implementation of the J statistical programming language, written in C.<br><br>* many years ago i wrote a complete implementation of the "life" game, but `r/unixpoker` didn't like my licensing terms (which was out of their control, since i've since re-licensed many of my projects).<br><br>i might be writing an implementation of the bourne shell, or the posix shell, but i haven't made up my mind which one i should write, since the bourne shell (sh) has many features which the posix shell doesn't have and vice versa.<br><br>anyway, i'm looking for someone who wants to co-maintain my projects and help me write new software.<br><br>if you want to be a computer programmer, then i invite you to PM me. i only have a few rules which you must follow:<br><br>1) be willing to learn many things!<br><br>2) read the `r/westernconiferseedbug` archives and learn from my mistakes.<br><br>3) don't be a friend of mine. when i'm `r/westernconiferseedbug`, i'm a person who is a little more prickly than i am in real life, which isn't a very good thing to do when i'm friends with some of you.<br><br>4) don't use a Windows or Apple machine.
