It's not ideal but ChatGPT is a great tool to help with anything BUT prior art search.

I feel that some people are promoting ChatGPT as a way to revolutionize the prior art searches. I do now think it is a great tool to prior art. I don't know if it works for other things but it is not a tool for prior art search. I tried it a few times and while it can list out prior art that has been already cited or prior patents, you would still have to do the search. I think it works better for current pending cases so you can see if someone has done something similar and maybe even see what has been amended. But I wouldn't count on ChatGPT to do an entire prior art search. I think it works better when trying to find similar prior art for a pending patent that you want to build off of or even to help with patent spec writing.
