I know this is kinda similar to the Girl in the 5th Floor Elevator but some stuff happened to me that I will never ever forget and I just have to tell someone. Throwaway account cause I usually don't like talking about my personal stuff on my main.

I live in a relatively new high-rise building in the center of my city (in Eastern Europe). It's a beautiful place with great people. I have been living here for about 5 years and I have never felt unsafe. We have cameras everywhere, finger print scanners and an on site 24/7 guard.

I work as a medical receptionist in a hospital so my shifts are always changing but I usually get home at around 2 am. I take the stairs most of the time cause the elevator takes too long but this one time I decided to take the elevator because I had just gotten out of a 12 hour shift and I was dead tired. I looked at my watch and it was 2:34 am. I walked into the elevator and pressed my floor. I live on the 14th so it takes a while. It was a Saturday night and I could hear the TV blasting from one of the apartments nearby and I thought nothing of it.

As the elevator stopped at the 3rd floor, the doors opened and a man stepped in. He looked at me with a slight smile on his face and said hi. I smiled back and said hi but I was too tired to pretend that I was happy to see him. He then asked me what time it is and I told him that it's 2:34. He then asked me if I lived in the building and I said that yes, I do. I don't know what it is about me but I sometimes give the wrong energetic vibes that make men think that I am interested in them when I'm clearly not. He seemed to be around 30-35 years old, relatively good looking, with brown hair and green eyes. His smile was genuinely nice and his teeth were perfectly aligned. He had brown leather gloves on, a long blue coat and dress shoes. I don't know why I remember all this but I just do.

I noticed that he didn't have a bag or anything with him which I thought was strange but I didn't wanna be rude so I didn't ask. He then pressed the button for the top floor. Now, I know that there are only 3 apartments on the top floor, one is owned by a very nice older couple, the second one is owned by a young family and the third one is owned by the building's owner. He was not from around here, I could tell. I work in a hospital and I get to meet a lot of people every day and I can usually tell who's who. I immediately thought that he was breaking into one of the apartments and I knew I had to get out of there.

I said that I lived on the 13th and not the 14th and when the elevator stopped at the 13th floor, I got out as fast as I could. I took the stairs, ran to my floor and tried to open the door with my key. It wouldn't open for some reason so I tried and tried but it wouldn't work. It was as if it was possessed. I tried to open it with my key for what felt like 5 whole minutes and I was on the verge of tears at this point. I couldn't go back and take the elevator, I knew I couldn't let him know that I lied and that I actually lived on the top floor.

I decided to go to the next floor and knock on every door until someone opened. I got to the floor and I saw that the door to the stairs was open. It was very strange. I knocked on every door but no one answered. I was crying and I was really really scared. I decided to check the stairs one more time and see if I could find anyone. As I walked down, I heard a man talking to someone. I walked faster to the voice and I heard him asking the guard about the top floor apartments and who lived there.

I just ran and opened the door and into the lobby. I fell on the floor while crying and the guard rushed towards me. I told him that there was a strange man in the elevator and that he had asked me what time it was and if I lived in the building. He opened the cameras on his computer and we didn't see him anywhere. It was 2:50 am at this point and I was so so so scared. We walked around the whole building but couldn't find him. He didn't take the elevator at any point and we couldn't see him on the stairs. We looked at the cameras and there was a 16 minute window that he just disappeared.

I couldn't sleep that night and I couldn't go to work the next day. I was so scared. My brother came and checked my lock and he opened it with one try. I have no idea what happened. We checked the cameras again and we couldn't see him leave the building. He just disappeared.

I couldn't go anywhere alone for a whole week. I went to the police station and they just laughed at me. They said that there's no proof and that I probably just hallucinated. I know that I didn't. I know that he was there. I will never forget his smile and his eyes and the gloves that he wore. I know that he was there. I will never forget that night.

I still take the elevator but I always always always look at my watch and I always know the time. I know that it's irrational but that man fucked with my head. I feel like I'm always waiting for him, I feel like he's always around the corner, waiting for me. I know that he's not, I know that I'm safe but I just can't shake off the feeling that I'm being watched.
