Hello all, I’m a student teacher student doing my internship right now. I’ve been with the same teacher for the past two semesters. The reason I tell you this is because we have lunch together daily and the kids really like and respond to her.

So I’ve been incorporating STEM projects that are hands on and also highly engaging for students. They have opportunities to bond and collaborate with each other.

Yesterday, one of our students came to us and is very upset. He said he thinks the teacher dislike students and that she doesn’t care about them.

I asked him to explain more and he said she screams a lot and that she’s always in a bad mood.

I asked him why he thought that, and he said, “whenever me and my friends try to ask her a question, she always answers sarcastically and in a very condescending way. I don’t know how to describe it. She always answers like this, “what? Why would you ask that question? Of course! Why wouldn’t it be that way? . And she always sounds mad so we stopped asking her questions and try to go straight to you for help because you are nicer.”

I was so surprised by this and asked him if anyone else in the classroom felt this way. And he said, “yes, we all don’t like that about her.”

This makes me so sad. I feel like this could be avoided. She’s a very knowledgeable teacher and I really like her, but I wish she had more patience and understanding.
