I think about this Chambers post every time a colleague or friend starts a family

**If I were a Billionaire, I would start at least 2 programs.**<br><br>There are people out there who are absolutely unqualified to be parents. There are people out there who could use a little extra money. <br><br>Program 1: <br>Anyone who gets their tubes tied or vasectomy done will receive $10,000. It’s a win-win. It would cost a lot to start and I wouldn’t make much money back in return, but I’d be helping to ensure that the human race doesn’t hit 20 billion. I picture people lining up like they do at clinics when they give out free vaccinations but in suits and with briefcases full of cash (this is a joke, don’t sacrifice your ability to have children for $10,000)<br><br>Program 2: <br>There are people out there who desperately want to be parents but cannot afford to adopt. If you adopt a foster child and your combined income is less than $85,000/year you will get $15,000/year until the child is 18 years old or until you make more than $85,000/year. Every year you have to provide proof that you still make less than $85,000/year and you have to prove that you still have full custody of the child. I believe people who earn more than $85,000 are in a better position to afford the costs of a child. I also picture these people in a line for a man in a room who pays them in a briefcase, like the above.
