Here is the problem with the hobby

I love this hobby. There are so many problems with it, but most of all the price.<br><br><br>I have spent my entire life with reptiles for as long as I can remember, mainly snakes and geckos. I have bred them for the past 2 years and now have over 10 geckos. The problem is there are too many breeders and most are not even good at it. There is a breeder on Instagram who has bred a gecko which is deformed and can't walk and is calling her a "bb" and "breeder quality". This is wrong on so many levels but it is the same no matter where you go.<br><br><br>Also the prices are too much. I don't care if yours is more rare, you shouldn't charge that much. I have seen some people charge over 1k for one gecko. Yes sometimes that is alright, I would pay near 1k if it was one of a kind. But most people are normal people with normal incomes and can't afford it. I am underage right now and can't even afford to buy most of the geckos if I wanted to. I had over 10 geckos before I was 13. I had bought around 12 over the past couple of years and most were around 50 or 100. I have bred most of mine and that is my biggest problem with people.<br><br><br>Also most breeders are just hatching them out just to tell them what morph they are. I know that is how the hobby works but if you know your geckos are not going to be good quality and are just going to hatch them for the money, no. You should stop breeding immediatelly. This is why there is so many problems in the hobby right now. Just so many of them are just terrible quality and so many people are breeding them. Just stop it.<br><br>I have around 12 geckos as of right now, and I am just a kid. The fact that I have hatched out so many geckos and have around 12 as of right now is a problem. I am just a kid. I don't have the money or space for all of them but I am willing to spend my time and money just to make sure they are healthy. I know most other people are like this as well, but most seem to just care about the money and the fact that they are breeding.<br><br><br>I don't really know what to say anymore but I am just frustrated with the hobby and wish it was like it was when I first got into it.
