What is the deal with psychedelics and their theraputic value? Is all the hype overblown, or can personal trump clinical trials in this regard?

Hi guys. Been following psychedelics for a while, and the more I do I’m becoming increasingly skeptical over the hype. Not over the therapeutic value, but how clinically clear it is to the general public. I think a lot of y’all are mainstreaming psychedelics which basically guarantees a clinical dead in the water situation. Anyways, I love psychedelics but I’m becoming increasingly skeptical over the science.
What are some valid clinical trials to lead y’all to believe that psychedelics should be widely used?

I could name off a million studies, y’all know which ones I mean.. But if you look at them critically, they’re just not as impressive as you’d hope. They have high drop out rates, the small number of patients, and usually are only 1-2 doses.

I’m not outright saying they don’t work, but I feel as though the science is nowhere near to the point where we can make bold claims. Y’all know what I mean, we can cure this, we can cure that, even though clinically it’s just not true.

Personal anecdotes hold absolutely no weight on someone clinically. I can’t go into a lab and say I took a pill and it cured my depression. That’s not science, that’s stupid. I’ve seen many of y’all do this, and it honestly just makes the community look stupid.

I could name off a million anecdotes of psychedelics helping people. But that still holds absolutely no weight. I can’t say that shrooms, ket, or lsd helped me with abc, and that lead clinically to anything.

Again, I love psychedelics, but I think it’s time we take a step back and realize that we shouldn’t be making these bold claims. Psychedelics are a tool, and if you think you can just pop a pill and cure your depression or whatever, you are sadly misinformed.

That’s all.
