I don't like anime because I don't understand why all the characters look like a 12 year old girl

I'm going to start by saying that I genuinely want to be educated on this and I'm not trying to sound xenophobic or anything. I just personally do not like anime, or japanese cartoond because every character looks like a fucking 12 year old girl. I understand that a lot of anime is made for kids, but surely that can't be all of it. I don't like the extremely hyper-sexualized waifus or anything like that, that seems to be targeted towards a more adult audience, but surely there can be some anime where the characters just look like regular people.<br><br>I understand that the style of anime is very cartoon-like and the characters don't look like real people, but why does everyone have to look like a fucking 12 year old girl? I don't want to watch some animated show where it feels like all the characters are children. I just don't get it at all, it seems like a very strange style to me.<br><br>Can someone please explain to me why this is the chosen style of basically all anime, because I don't get it. I want to like anime, I've seen some that I have liked but I don't like the art style at all, it just seems so strange.<br><br>Sorry for the ramble.<br><br>EDIT : thanks for all the recommendations so far guys, I really appreciate it, I'll definitely check some out. Yes, I understand that not all anime is like this and I'm not going to blankets all the anime in the world as being a certain way, I've just seen a lot more of this style than other styles and that is personally what I don't like. I don't like a lot of things about a lot of different cultures, but I don't just completely write those cultures off, that would be fucking stupid.
