I'm not sure if this is the correct board for this topic but I feel like I need to share it with /pol/ as well. I'm a white guy from the suburbs outside of Minneapolis. I went to college in Minneapolis and love the city. Ever since the George Floyd incident, I was extremely sympathetic to the cause, and I felt like I needed to do something to help. I'm aware that this is a 4chan account, but I was unsympathetic and even hostile to the far right. I worked for Ilhan Omar's campaign in 2018 while I was in college and was a big supporter of hers up until a couple of days ago.

I decided to go to a riot in Minneapolis yesterday and I'm very glad I did. Even though my rioting experience was mildly terrifying and dangerous, I received a lot of support from the crowd when I told people I was there to support George Floyd. At the riots I saw a lot of radical leftists and even some literal communists. I'd say around 50% of the people there were white, most of the rest were black, and there were a few hispanic people as well. The radical leftists were taking advantage of the situation to push their agenda and were using it as an excuse to destroy things. I saw a few people holding "free palestine" signs, and a few Marxists who were distributing papers on need for a revolutionary vanguard.

After being there for a while, I decided to leave when the tear gas started getting intense. On my way out, I met a radical leftist who was aware of my support for Ilhan Omar. He immediately called me a "liberal" and said "fuck your fucking goddamn motherfuckin bitch ass" in response to me telling him I supported Ilhan. He called me a "fascist" and a "racist". I tried explaining to him that I was trying to help, but he wouldn't listen and I could tell there was no way I could logically reason with him.

Ilhan Omar has been unconditionally supporting this rioting, as if the rioters were made up of innocent peaceful people who are being oppressed by the police. I realize now that this movement is not about justice for George Floyd. If it was, radical leftists wouldn't be trying to destroy my city to push a broader agenda. I'm extremely disappointed in Ilhan's response to this and have lost all respect for her. I love my city and I want justice for George Floyd, not anarchy.
