How do you feel about the US military's AI programs?

I live near a military research facility and I am surrounded by people who are working on AI in various capacities (some relate to weapons development or autonomous vehicles). While I do believe AI has the ability to be a game changer, I also think it is a brutal way to kill, even if 1. a human is in the loop, and 2. there are rules in place that govern the AI. <br><br>I wonder if we're creating a future where we can't relate to people in the way that we can now.
