My mom said some crazy things to me one time. This was years ago when I was in high school. She got done with a long day of work and I was picking her up from the airport. We were walking to the car and we weren't talking about anything in particular when she says out of the blue, "I don't know if I like having children or not". I was a little surprised since I had never heard of a mom say that before. I ask her, "Why not?" And she pauses for a second before saying, "I don't know. I just don't know if I like having children or not". <br><br>I was a little taken aback that she didn't seem to know why. So I tried to press her on it a little more. "Did something happen to you when you were a kid?". She says "No" immediately and with a tone like she was annoyed of the question.<br><br>So I try again. "Did something happen to you when you were little? Something that traumatized you? Something sexual?" She says "No" again. This time I think I heard a hint of a laugh in there too. <br><br>I'm starting to get a little creeped out here. I don't know why but I'm just getting weird vibes off of this conversation all of a sudden. And I don't know. I don't even know why I said this. But I said, "Are you my mom?" And she stopped dead in her tracks. She turned around and looked at me with this look I've never seen before. It was like she was mad, disappointed, and sad all at once. You ever get mad at someone for some reason, but it's not really their fault? And at the same time you're disappointed in yourself for being angry at them, since you know it's not their fault? That's the way she looked at me. <br><br>And she said, "Yes. I'm your mom. I'm your mom. Don't you ever ask me that again. Understood?" And I said "Yeah. Got it. Sorry. Whatever." And she just said, "Good". <br><br>I'm not going to lie. I don't know what that was about. I have no idea. But I've always remembered that day since it was so strange.
