I'm (M) not buying life insurance for my wife (F) because I don't think that I'm supposed to hope for her death to pay off my debts. I think it's disgusting to think that way.

I'm 35 and my wife is 33. We have a 4 year old daughter and hopefully we'll have a second child in a year or two. We're fairly stable financially, but my wife made a career pivot to try to work on her nowDEFICIT. To make a long story short, I took out some loans to carry us over. I think that's it in a nutshell.

I brought up term life insurance to protect our daughter, but we ended up getting into a big fight over it. My wife, apparently, "felt" that I wanted her to die to pay off her debt. I denied this a few times but she left in a huff. She thinks I'm trying to trap her because I don't want to be a single parent.

I'm not trying to trap her, I just want to protect our daughter's future in case things don't improve by the time the loans are due.
