I was talking to my dad today and he told me he found out that his dad (my grandpa) was abusive to my dad's mom.

I was talking to my dad today about my grandpa. He was a good man. I have nothing but good memories of him. I was around 15 when he died. He was great at woodworking and was very good with his hands and at fixing things. He taught me a lot about woodworking and how to fix things. We would sit and talk for hours. He always had a lot of good advice and he was never mean. He was a good man. <br><br>I was talking to my dad and he told me my grandpa used to slap and hit my grandma. My dad said he had a good dad and a loving dad. But my grandpa was a little too much of a strict man for my dad's liking. My dad said he didn't know he was being abusive. My dad said as a kid he never even knew he was being abusive. It just came off as my grandpa being very strict. My dad said he was strict with my grandpa's kids, my aunts and uncle. My dad said he was hardest on him but he was strict with all of the kids. My dad said he was very smart as a kid. He said he was very good in school and he was very good with his hands. He always did very good in school and in his career. <br><br>My dad was almost in tears telling me this. He said he just realized it when he was an adult. He said he was talking to my grandma about my grandpa and he said my grandma told him my grandpa used to hit her when my dad and his siblings were children. He said it just made sense. My dad said he realized he grew up in an abusive household. <br><br>He said as a kid, he just thought it was normal. He said it wasn't until he was an adult that he realized what his dad did was wrong. He said my grandpa was a great provider. He worked hard. He made a lot of money and he was very good with his hands. He said my grandpa could fix anything. My dad said my grandpa was a great father in a lot of ways. My dad said he just had a bad temper. My dad said he realized he grew up in a toxic and abusive household. <br><br>I told him I'm sorry. I told him it sounds like he had a very harsh strict dad. My dad said he did. My dad said my grandpa was a very smart man. My dad said he was a very smart, very strict and very hard working man. My dad said he did a lot of good for his family. My dad said he was a great provider. My dad said he was very good with his hands. My dad said he was great at a lot of things but he was horrible at other things.
