AITA for refusing to pay rent after my landlord stopped paying for any upkeep?

So my landlord has owned this house for about 15 years. Its a 4 bedroom house, his mother lives in the basement and my roommate and I each live in one of the top two bedrooms. The house had been kept in pretty good condition before. Our rent was very cheap in my opinion when we first moved in, but you get what you pay for. The landlords mother was very nice but she would literally call us into the basement at least twice a day, and get angry if we didnt. AITA here for refusing to pay rent, and also by the way does it even matter if I am an AH because Im moving out anyway?<br><br>I moved in about 6 months ago with my roommate, we both moved in at the same time. And we paid $550 each for the first 3 months. A couple months ago the landlord approached us and offered to reduce our rent by 50% if we were in charge of all maintainence of the property. This included lawn work, broken appliances, plumbing work, anything. He did however offer to pay for any supplies we needed. Me and my roommates were both in college at the time and needed the money, so we gladly accepted.<br><br>Everythong was going great, we helped with the work and he paid for supplies, and everything was kept up. However, over the last 3 months we havent had to buy a single supply. He used to always tell us to go to Home Depot and he would pay for it. Now were buying caulk and spray foam from Home Depot with our own money. And we stopped getting paid for it. I confronted our landlord about it, and he said that he forgot and would pay us back. But he never did. So, me and my roommate approached him again last week, and said that we were renting under the original agreement because he had not been paying for our supplies. He did not like this and said he was raising rent 20%, and so now we have broken our lease and are moving out.
