A sly, mysterious look from a woman.

So I was in a coffee shop just now, and the woman behind me was getting her coffee in line. She had parted her hair about halfway across her forehead, and had a 5 o'clock shadow with short dark hair. I did not know if she was a woman or man, and I was trying to get a glimpse of her face without being weird.

She walked up to me and said "excuse me, do you mind if I take the seat directly across from you?" I said no, I don't mind, and I dug into my phone trying not to be weird. I glanced across the table, and she gave me a sly, mysterious smirk as she sat and sipped her coffee. She had a black leather jacket on with silver studs, and she looked to be in her mid 40s? I think I would have been interested, but I looked away quickly and tried to make my escape.

It was just a weird feeling, because I felt like she knew that I was frustrated trying to figure out if she was a woman or a man. What the heck was I supposed to do, walk up to her and say "are you a woman or a man?"

As I walked out, I felt like I missed something by not being bold enough, but I just felt like it was weird.

Thoughts?
