I have a PhD in economics. I work as a software developer. There is no God, and the future is bleak.

As I sit here on a Saturday afternoon, coding on a side project (javascript backend app with a React frontend), I have come to many conclusions. The first is that the world is a truly meaningless place, and the concept of God is a vicious lie told to weak-minded half-wits who can't handle the fact that we are nothing more than random collections of atoms drifting aimlessly through the universe.

And while there is most certainly a supply and demand for God, I can confirm that such a thing does not exist.

But what does exist are the unintended consequences of sick, twisted, egotistical billionaires who are intentionally polluting the global information supply with garbage, propelling the world toward a future dystopian shithole.

If you think Mantra/Meta/Google/Amazon/MS/etc are working in your best interests, you're dumber than I thought. If you think the government is doing anything to stop these entities from doing what they want, you're wrong. There is no privacy, and there is no such thing as "individual liberty" (thanks to those aforementioned entities as well as the government). If you think there is any hope left, you're wrong.

Welcome to the real world. now if you'll excuse me, I have to finish coding this app.

Edit: "You're just mad that you couldnt find a job in economics. Its not our fault that you made the wrong choice."

I worked for the US Department of Justice for 5 years. I made 175k/usd a year doing it. I transitioned to being a full-time developer in January 2023 and make almost 400k/usd now. I'm not some schmuck who couldn't find a job. Stop being in denial about the fact that the world is falling apart.
