I feel that this sub could be a really good resource for non-drug users to learn about drugs (I know it’s not the purpose but just hear me out)

I myself am a drug addict with a few years sober, before getting sober I had no clue how addictive and destructive drugs can be. I wish when I first started using that I would have known. Yes, it’s illegal to sell drugs to minors and yes, we shouldn’t be using them, but everyone starts use at a young age so why not educate your children on it.

Here are some things I felt that everyone should know

-If someone is on xanax/anxiety meds/other depressants, and is drinking, get them to a hospital asap or try to keep them awake. I lost my best friend to this, he was a week younger than me and was only on Trazodone, but he went to sleep and never woke up.

-If you take too many stimulants, you can have a psychotic break, and it will feel like your entire world is crashing down, you won’t know what’s up or down and it’s terrifying, and you have no idea wtf is going on. I remember laughing like a maniac and then just all of a sudden not being able to breathe and thinking I was having a stroke

- If you take a large amount of opioids, before passing out you’ll begin to feel your organs shutting down, and it’ll feel as if you can’t breathe, and you’ll be panicked as your entire body starts to feel like it’s dying. It’s amazing how fast your body deteriorates when you’re on dope.

-If you take too much lsd, you’ll feel like the world is ending and you just want to die. I was so damn paranoid, I remember thinking that a lot of the things I saw were real. I didn’t think I could take it anymore and my heart was racing so hard that I thought I would have a heart attack.

-If you do too many drugs, you’ll develop a tolerance and have to take more and more to feel the same effects. If you don’t slow down then you’ll ruin your life and destroy your health, and you won’t notice that you are until you’re stuck in a vicious cycle of drug abuse, which is nearly impossible to leave.

I am not trying to glorify drugs, in fact I am trying to do the opposite. I want people to know how bad it is, and I don’t want anybody to go through what I went through.

Edit: I didn’t expect this to get so many up votes, thanks guys. I’ve been reading the comments and it seems that a lot of you have stories, if you have the time to message me yours, I’d love to hear them. Also if you have any questions about certain drugs, you can message me too.
