Weird arrest story I witnessed at Walmart yesterday

So I was hoping this sub wasn't banned because I wanted to post this. I shoplifted for 3 or 4 years and got caught three times. First time, they asked me not to come back and gave me a trespassing warning. Second time they did the same thing, and the third time they decided to press charges and I got a misdemeanor and a year probation. I got out of that over a year ago. I don't shoplift anymore (it wasn't worth it, and I moved to a new state where I heard the penalties are more strict.)

So I was at Walmart (where I got caught the last time) yesterday picking up a few things before work. There were these two guys sitting in the security office watching people and talking. One of them was the guy who caught me and I recognized him. (He was very nice, btw, as much as I was stressed out and worried about my situation, he wasn't condescending or anything.) They followed a guy and a little kid around the store for a while, and then they arrested him. I don't know what he stole, but as they were putting him in handcuffs, he said that he didn't steal anything. I saw him with something that I couldn't quite make out under his jacket, so he did steal something, he just didn't want to admit it. But he kept saying he didn't steal anything, and he had a kid with him, so that probably made it complicated. He kept saying he wanted to call his wife, but they took him in the back room and I don't know what happened to the kid. The cop that came seemed kind of annoyed that they arrested him for shoplifting in the first place. I don't know what to make of the whole thing.
