Mitch McConnell said that he would rather the Democrats had the House of Representatives than Kevin McCarthy have the Speakership

From a Washington Post story regarding Mitch McConnell's new book:<br><br>"House Republicans sent Senate Republicans a letter urging us to block everything they passed. They’d still get credit for passing it, and we’d take the blame for blocking it. We were about to get run over by a freight train that we’d never even seen coming. We had no idea how we were going to get out of the way in time."<br><br>"At one point, I even mused out loud to a friend that if I had to choose between the two, I’d rather Democrats kept the House than Kevin McCarthy became speaker. I was relieved when I finally heard that he planned to run for reelection instead. But then in the final days of the campaign, I’d begun to hear rumors that he hadn’t changed his mind after all.
