My girlfriend [23F] of 18 months asked my [25M] preference about her pubic hair and now finds me "revolting" and wants to break up

So yesterday my girlfriend was getting ready to shower and before getting in she asked me if I have a preference for how she waxes her pubic hair, I assumed she was just asking out of making conversation and didn't actually expect an answer. I said nothing and she asked again "do you prefer a landing strip, completely shaved or a short trim" I said I prefer a short trim because I think it's neautral, she got super silent and just got in the shower. We talked a bit during the rest of the night until we went to sleep but she was being cold so I knew something was wrong. This morning she told me that she finds me "revolting" for having an opinion on that topic and that she wants to break up with me, she said I made her feel like an object and that my opinion was "devastating" to her, we had a small argument during which I told her that she asked me and I answered, I don't see what the issue is, she just told me to leave the apartment and report to her parents so they can figure it out, I'm currently at a friend's place. I just don't understand what went wrong.<br><br>Edit: I just got a call from her dad asking me to come over, I guess I'll see what he has to say. Also for everyone asking me why I had to answer, I don't think there's anything wrong with answering when someone asks you, its a reasonable question in my opinion. For the people who comment on my English, sorry if it wasn't clear or if I misspelled something I'm Middle Eastern and this is not my first language. <br><br>Update: so I went and he yelled at me for answering her question incorrectly, he told me that I should've answered "I don't care it's up to you" even if I do have a preference, he said I was immature and that I don't know how to treat a girl. I told him that she asked me and I answered thinking we were having a conversation but he said that I should've known better. He told me to go back to my friend's and that they will call me when they're ready to talk. I feel like I'm being unfairly blamed here, I don't know.
