Has anyone gone through the following process to develop their world?

1. A concept goes to your mind: "I want to add octopuses to the bottom of my ocean"
2. You develop the idea, taking into account the characteristics of the world, its impacts, etc: "Well, they have no eyes, they have a dark purple color, they live in large colonies and are guided by the sounds generated by the seismic movements of the tectonic plates"
3. You write it down: "In the dark depths of the ocean there are octopuses with no eyes, they have a dark purple color, they live in large colonies and are guided by the sounds generated by the seismic movements of the tectonic plates"

This would be a "Single Check" technique

The Double Check is to do the following:

4. You come up with a concept again, from the point of view of another culture or nation: "Oh, I want to imagine how this world would be seen from the perspective of a nomadic people"
5. Look at how your world changes, feel like you're discovering new things about it, your eyes have changed completely: "The octopuses are not a simple animal, the earth is an animal itself"
6. Write it down, as if you were writing a text for the people of this culture: "The octopuses are the tongue of the earth, they are the messengers of the earth, and they are the ones who feel the pain of the earth, when the earth bleeds, the octopuses are the blood that comes out"

Then you go back to step 1, another concept comes up, and you start again from "Single Check"...

Do you know this technique? Do you use this technique?

**Edit: Hum... seems I've used the wrong word. What I mean is that you imagine how a nation would see your world, how they would describe it. It's not about how they would describe it in a funny way, but rather, it's about how their mindset, their way of viewing the world would make them see it, and as such, describe it**

**Edit 2: Wow, this post got way more visibility than I expected. Thank you all for your kind comments and suggestions. I will definitely continue to develop this technique as well as to develop the world in which I am applying it.**
