WhatsApp hit by a major outage; users across the world unable to send or receive messages

Messaging service WhatsApp is experiencing an outage in many parts of the world, including the US, UK, India, Pakistan and Australia. WhatsApp was acquired by Meta in 2014. The cause of the outage is not clear. Other Meta subsidiaries, like Facebook and Instagram, appear to be functioning normally.
