Have you ever been approached by a group of people out and about or out and about?

If the title of this post doesn't make sense, it's just because I'm trying to ask something without being specific enough to trigger any shadowbans. I want to know if you've ever walked down the street and had a group of people approach you.

They all seemed to know each other and were all wearing ski masks and handed me a small note with their mouths covered up. I took the note and it said "can you help us? Who would have ever thought that we'd have so much in common? And that would bring us to your door?"

I didn't answer them. I just stood there frozen and watched as they all walked off again and disappeared down the street.

This happened for the second time in my life about an hour ago. I have to wonder what their angle is. Who are these people? Do they know me?

The first time it happened was about two months ago but it was just one guy wearing a ski mask, and I was inside and not outside. I was at my mother's place and she wasn't home, so I was alone. It was the middle of the day and I was in the living room on the first floor when the front doorbell rang. I thought maybe it was my mom coming home and she just forgot her keys and wanted me to let her in, but it wasn't her. It was again a man wearing a ski mask and he was alone. He handed me a bunch of cut up pieces of paper with a note that said "it's up to you" and then he walked away.

I have no idea what either of these two incidents could even mean. It seemed threatening, but they didn't say anything threatening. They just handed me the note and walked away and then I never saw them again. But it did seem threatening. It felt like something out of a spy movie where I'm about to receive some kind of cryptic message and have to go on a secret espionage mission.

I'm not eagerly awaiting their return but it did seem like something was about to go down and then nothing ever did. I'm just wondering if this has ever happened to you.

Normally I think it would be rude to not answer someone's question when they approach you, but I think I did the right thing in not responding. If someone is walking up to you while wearing ski masks, they look like they might be dangerous and I don't want to give them an opening to attack me when my guard is let down. Maybe I'm just paranoid.

Has anything even remotely similar ever happened to you, and if so, what happened?
