My husband got a promotion and a pay raise last month, and I was proud to celebrate him with a new smart watch and some other small presents, but when I gave them to him he was taken aback and didn’t react to them at all. In fact he told me he thought my giving him gifts was emasculating and offensive, and I didn’t even get an acknowledgement of the gifts. He said he doesn’t like making me spend money on him, and then went on to say that it makes him feel like less of a man. I thought it was unusual, because I’ve been giving him stuff like that for years since he’s always saying he doesn’t want to spoil himself, but I guess he has more of an issue with it now? I don’t know what to do because I want to be able to spoil him, but I don’t want to hurt his feelings. What do you think I should do?

TL:DR! My husband doesn’t like me buying him gifts because he thinks it makes him less of a man.
